Could this be the end of the two-party system in Britain?

I'm running with my surface thoughts here, rather than giving a political analysis.

Jeremy Corbyn might be starting a new left-wing party, or somesuch (whatever happened to Momentum?). I've seen countless such initiatives come and go over the decades, and not come to much, but the political climate is very different now.

I honestly can't see Labour being in government in four years, without a change of leadership and direction, and I believe we're most likely going to end up with a Tory-Reform coalition government. A lot can happen in three years, but that's where Britain is currently headed.

The government's choice, we're told, is to make cuts to welfare, or to tax working people into further hardship, while the cost of everything is going up. We're told the government has the choice of scrapping triple-lock pensions or to raise the pension age to 74. In both cases, neither of the options wouldn't result in a major backlash. The idea of 'tax the rich' hasn't been seriously thought through yet. What we can be sure of is that a large percentage of voters - I'd wager most - would be voting against a continuation of 'centrism', even if Reform UK is presented as the only alternative. Reform UK won't get anywhere near enough votes to become a majority government, but they would negotiate a coalition with the Tories.

The good news is we can expect votes to be more evenly distributed among four parties and independents. Labour is haemoragging support to the Greens and the LibDems, just as the Tories were haemoragging support to Reform UK. We could be seeing an end to the two-party system.

How could Corbyn's party, if it materialises, make a difference? Assuming it doesn't become another Gaza/Palestine protest organisation, assuming it isn't overtly in favour of mass immigration (because Reform will use that as a distraction) and assuming it has a convincingly workable plan for improving the standards of living for the average person, it might draw around 10% of the votes from Labour: Quite a few Labour MPs know they're facing defeat in the next election, and are giving serious thought to going independent. Some of them absolutely would commit to working with a credible left-wing party in return for its endorsement.
